March 11, 2011 saw the passing of a much loved man of God, and good friend to the EBM. Bro. Bob Burleson, the father of member Mike Burleson, died in his home at 11:08 AM on a Sunday morning, when many churches were beginning their worship services. He had been suffering various illnesses and was mostly bedridden for the past year.

Little known, is Bro. Bob’s role in establishing the EBM. The first meeting of this ministry, which occurred on January 12, 2011 was at his house in Orangeburg. The nursing home ministry started by Bro Bob, was soon incorporated into this ministry and is now a thriving part of our local outreach.

Mike tells the story of how as Bob’s sickness worsened in the past few months, making him too weak to speak, he regretted not having a recording of his dad singing Beulah Land, which the older Burleson had sang at countless churches and nursing home services. As if in answer to prayer Bro.  Bob’s speech returned strong enough in the last couple weeks, enough to sing one more chorus of Beulah Land on tape.

Our brother will be greatly missed by the EBM, who inspired us so much by his strength and faith.

Mrs. Peggy Gleaton encouraged everyone to Rejoice at Laurel Baye recently. See the Video!
